Queensland Government Wireless Network
In 2012 Mingara was appointed by Projects Queensland as the technical adviser for the Government Wireless Network (GWN).
This project is currently delivering enhanced digital radio voice and narrowband data communications for Queensland's public safety agencies, with improved communications security, interoperability between public safety agencies, and added functionality.
Mingara prepared all GWN technical specifications and associated tender schedule documents in conjunction with the Public Safety Agencies. Mingara reviewed tender responses and participated in contract negotiations. Telstra was awarded the GWN contract valued at $457m over 15 years.
Mingara was appointed as technical advisers to assist in the implementation of the GWN by the Queensland Department of Science, Information Technology and Innovation (DSITI).
The first stage of the network was rolled out to the Queensland Police, Ambulance and Fire and Emergency Services as a priority for the G20 Summit in November 2014.
Following the success of the G20 Summit, the network was rolled out to the entire South East Queensland region and went live in October 2015.
